This course is designed to prepare the student for the practical skills and written examinations for Pump Operator certification. Class work will include: safe driving techniques, preventive maintenance, pump operations, hydraulic calculations, water supply and apparatus systems. The course begins inside the classroom and ends outside with pumping apparatus. The main emphasis is on "hands-on" exercises using various types of pumps, hose sizes and nozzles. This course alone is not designed to produce expert pump operators.
