Full Description: This to 90–120-minute interactive course will cover various legal topics concerning firefighters driving and operating department apparatus. This course will not take the place of formal legal advice but will provide a groundwork of what is occurring and ways to prevent liability to the agency, municipality, or the individual. Issues with understating state statutes, common misunderstandings with responses, traffic management, and liabilities. The lectures will be presented in a way that will be excellent for members of all ranks. Members in leadership may use these topics to work on SOP/SOGs or other polices. Topics will be covered through lecture and discussion with emphasis on actual cases and circumstances that have been faced by fire service leaders.
