Trench - Rescue Technician - Trench - Meriden - 26: Oct 19-21, 26-29 PCE

Full Description: This six-day course meets the requirements of Chapter 12, NFPA 1006 Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications, 2021 edition and OSHA 1926. This course will train the students to perform technician level trench rescue scenarios, where they will: size-up trenches; evaluate soil types and conditions; build trench protection systems with pneumatic shoring in straight and intersecting trenches; dig down to remove dirt and install supplemental shoring; perform lifting operations inside the trench using various means and equipment; use several techniques to fill the gap behind protective mechanisms; and develop action plans to manage and remove a victim from a trench accident.

Prerequisites: I agree to the Drop Policy: Any refund request must be submitted to cfa-support@ct.gov at least seven (7) days prior to the start of a program to receive a full refund.
CLASS Prerequisites:  NONE
CERTIFICATION Prerequisites:  I understand that to certify to this level, I must hold a valid Firefighter II Certification before any Trench testing (including Practical), if applicable.

Resources Required: Required Text: Jones & Bartlett, Trench Rescue Principles and Practices to NFPA 1006 & 1670, 4th edition.

Reporting Instructions: PPE required: work gloves, eye protection, hard hat with chin strap or tech rescue helmet, ankle height footwear, long pants or coveralls. No Shorts.
