Full Description
DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour program provides an in-depth exploration of aerial ladders and the Arizona Vortex as high-direction anchors in rope rescue operations. Combining theory, physics, and practical application, this class addresses how these tools can be effectively and safely integrated into challenging rescue scenarios.

Participants will examine the mechanics and rigging principles behind using aerial ladders as elevated anchors, supported by detailed images, diagrams, and real-world examples. Instructors—drawing on extensive experience in rope and confined space rescue as well as years of operating various ladder trucks—will guide discussions on the physics, advantages, and limitations of these systems.

The session also focuses on maximizing the use of the Arizona Vortex. It begins with a review of the user manual to establish foundational knowledge, followed by demonstrations of the three most common configurations and their practical applications. Instructors will highlight differences between the two major versions of the Vortex and discuss best-use practices for each.

Through a blend of interactive discussion, visual instruction, and hands-on demonstration, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively employ both aerial apparatus and the Arizona Vortex in rope rescue operations. This course is ideal for fire service personnel looking to strengthen their technical rescue capabilities and expand their operational options in the field.
